Since its inception in 2009, the Alpargatas Volunteer Program, Alpa Volunteers in Action (AVA), has encouraged the interaction and participation of Alpargatas' professionals through community projects, aimed at contributing to the social development of the communities located in the municipalities where the company operate. Through our program, our employees carry out volunteer actions and apply  values that guide Alpargatas' activities, such as commitment, entrepreneurship, respect and ethics.

The program is divided into a series of actions:

The Alpa Bem Fazer event, which takes place every year, is a voluntary social action based on the pillars of Education, Sports, Culture, Diversity and Inclusion aimed at sustainable community development and social inclusion. The initiative aims to contribute to a good relationship between Alpargatas' employees and the community, through actions that foster the development of public schools, where the company operates. The event carries out renovations and improvements in schools, libraries, donations of books, clothes, computers and recreational activities.

AVA promotes the Taekwondo project, carried out in partnership with specialized teachers and volunteer members, which has already benefited more than 8 thousand students from schools all over Brazil.

We also offer projects through partnerships with other organizations, such as the Basic Electricity professionalizing course for young people and adults, as well as Social Mentoring, for youth looking to kickstart their careers.

With Fábrica de Sonhos (Dreams Factory), volunteer actions promote renovations and improvements in housing for employees of Alpargatas' factories, ensuring a better quality of life and well-being for each of its beneficiaries.

Rede do Bem is a campaign that started in March 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative aims to contribute with donations to people in situations of social vulnerability, affected by the health crisis. With this, Alpargatas Institute created the IA Solidarity Fund, a project that worked in the following way: people donated to the Institute's account, Alpargatas doubled the amount collected and these resources were used to purchase and distribute food baskets to families in need. More than 3 thousand families have benefited from this initiative.

The experience of Corporate Volunteering is being expanded to strengthen the initiative, aligning our main focus to the SDGs and building on the global educational action developed by the Alpargatas Institute, based on the new principles ALPA's culture. From now on, we will expand our volunteering opportunities around the world, in all regions where we are present, globalizing our program to reach even further!
